COMMON QUESTIONS
WHAT IS KATAMEDO?
Katamedo is all-encompassing. We train judo, japanese and brazilian jujitsu, sambo and general grappling, fully integrating these different styles into a single, unified system.
DO I NEED TO HAVE PREVIOUS KNOWLEDGE IN SELF DEFENSE?
Absolutely not. We have a wide range of students, many with no previous experience to former high school and college wrestlers, and others with various other martial art backgrounds.
HOW MUCH DO LESSONS COST?
$45 a month.
CAN MY KIDS TAKE LESSONS?
We do not currently have a program for minors. Our methods are sometimes extreme and may not be safe for anyone under the age of eighteen.
WHAT SHOULD I BRING AND WHAT SHOULD I WEAR?
Loose sweatpants, sweatshirt or shirt with sleeves for first-time students. Later on for those interested in continuing to train have the option of purchasing a gi, though it is not strictly required.
WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT BELTS?
We go by a system very similar to the judo belt system. White belt, yellow, orange, green, brown belt (three stripes), black.
